About Mark Beck
I was born and raised in Virginia. I earned a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1984 and was a pastor for about 10 years, serving churches in North Carolina and Virginia. In 1998, I earned a Masters degree in counseling from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA and transitioned into mental health care. For 17 years I did psychiatric crisis assessment and intervention in the emergency department at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. I also maintained a private counseling practice in Lynchburg and was licensed in Virginia in 2001. In 2017, my wife, Debbie and I moved to Florida and I am now a licensed mental health counselor there (and also still licensed in Virginia as well). I have a private counseling practice in Inverness, FL. Pairs Care Counseling, LLC (www.PairsCare.com) is all about couples. I serve couples almost exclusively, for two reasons. First, as a therapist, that is my passion. Love can and should last a lifetime and healthy relationships are worth the work. Helping couples transform their relationship is the hardest and most rewarding work I've ever done. I consider it a calling. And second, couples therapy is a specialty, very different from working with individual clients. It requires specialized training and expertise and I want to be the very best at it that I can be. So, I continue to learn and train and couples therapy is my professional focus.
Although workshops like Hold Me Tight® are not therapy, they are a natural outgrowth of my professional practice. I find that I always learn more than I teach and receive more than I give. I'm very blessed to be doing what I truly love.
Feel free to contact me with any questions about my practice or our workshops.
